Did you know you can surf in Milan? This is the story of the first urban surf contest.
Event Management, Graphic Design, Social Media Management, Content Creation
Wakeparadise Milano is the largest waterpark in Italy with several facilities dedicated to wakeboarding, surfskate and especially a static wave (surfpool with Unit technology) for surfing. Wakeparadise was willing to involve Tuttologic Surf as a partner for the realization of the first urban surf contest. The challenge was to legitimize in the eyes of the most experienced and core surfers, people who make up the hard core of the Tuttologic Surf community, that Wakeparadise's static wave is a valid training for surfing in the sea.
No Surf Pro is a title that perfectly embodies the spirit of the event: we are not saying that this is real surfing, real surfing is done in the sea, but gosh if wavepool is useful and fun. We invited 11 of the best representatives of the national scene, athletes on Team Italia led by Roby D'Amico, Edo Papa and Giada Legati. With the declared goal of bringing the beach and the city closer together, surfers confined to the city and those raised on the coasts, we have planned several surfskate, fitness, yoga and functional training activities over the two-day event (Sept. 8-9). On the evening of Sept. 8, the No Surf Pro also hosted the only international premiere of No Contest Italy, a docufilm by Red Bull and Stab about a journey to the heart of our local surf culture with Leonardo Fioravanti, Roberto D'amico and a special guest, eight-time world champion Stephanie Gilmore.
THE PROJECT IN NUMBERS
The No Surf Pro, which this year was sponsored by Setz and made possible thanks to support from Fisw and foodspring, will return in 2023 with an even bigger and more engaging second edition. Because Milan is attracted to surfing, but surfing to needs also to bring its vibes to Milan to get bigger.
