A Samba in Dakar

In May 2023, our very first and esteemed client approached us with an extraordinary challenge: to shoot a short film and conduct a photo shoot in Senegal aiming to generate sufficient content for the production of an article in the print magazine AQVA.

We had only one surfer, Ismaila Samb, a rising talent in Senegal. Just two Sequoia surfboards, no transportation, and bad weather forecasts. With a tight budget, we made the most of every session, moving strategically as if each one could be our last.

By creating top-notch content both in and out of the water, we successfully met all our goals. We gathered photos and videos that enabled us to share stories and posts on the client’s profile for a good part of the year. The video was also featured by the influential Japanese media, Nobody Surf, with nearly 100,000 followers on Instagram. Additionally, two shots taken in Senegal were selected and published by VOGUE magazine.
